Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Director to lead end-to-end delivery of regulatory compliance and financial crime consulting engagements. This role blends deep subject matter expertise in AML, sanctions, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance with strong leadership, client relationship management, and operational excellence.
As a Sr. Manager/Director, you will act as a trusted advisor to C-level clients, manage high-performing teams, and drive the development of new service capabilities and firm strategy. You will set the tone for engagements, ensure delivery quality, and mentor the next generation of consultants.

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance (AML, Sanctions, KYC & Risk Assessment)
- Serve as the senior leader across financial crime compliance engagements, overseeing program design, remediation, optimization, and regulatory reporting.
- Advise clients on regulatory frameworks, enforcement trends, and strategic responses to emerging risks.
- Provide executive-level briefings, board reporting, and regulatory examination support.
- Lead the development of proprietary tools and scalable methodologies in model validation, governance, and controls testing.
Client Engagement & Strategic Advisory
- Act as the primary client contact for executive stakeholders across small to medium size, multi-phase projects.
- Translate complex regulatory and technical concepts into actionable business solutions.
- Deliver high-quality, strategic insights with a focus on real-world outcomes and client impact.
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships that drive recurring and referral business.
Practice Leadership
- Own delivery quality across multiple portfolios, managing senior leaders and high-performing teams.
- Establish and refine delivery methodologies, IP assets, and reusable frameworks.
- Drive continuous improvement through innovation, automation, and rigorous QA.
- Build succession planning, develop team leads, and scale talent capacity across geographies.
Team Leadership & Delivery Excellence
- Oversee multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring efficient project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Set delivery standards, coach senior consultants, and elevate the capabilities of the broader team.
- Drive project outcomes, resolve escalations, and ensure quality assurance on all work products.
- Lead by example in creating a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning.
Thought Leadership & Innovation
- Drive thought leadership by developing and propagating innovative strategies, methodologies, and intellectual property related to financial crime prevention.
- Inspire, motivate, and cultivate professional growth within teams, promoting best practices, knowledge sharing, and continuous development.
- Develop whitepapers, frameworks, and internal IP that solidify Client’s position as a market leader in compliance innovation.
- Represent company at industry forums, regulatory roundtables, and client summits.
Business Development & Growth
- Contribute to firm growth by identifying upsell/cross-sell opportunities within client portfolios.
- Lead proposal development, RFP responses, and pitch presentations for strategic accounts.
- Shape Client’s go-to-market strategy for new service offerings and expansion into emerging domains.
- Collaborate with leadership to refine pricing, staffing models, and market positioning.
Special Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Launch strategic projects and internal initiatives that refine our regulatory compliance methods and raise overall quality.
- Track emerging trends, regulatory updates, and data-analytics best practices, then translate them into practical improvements for client work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CAMS, MBA) strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in financial crime compliance, consulting, risk advisory, or regulatory operations.
- Proven ability to develop, sustain, and deepen strategic relationships with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Deep familiarity with AML platforms (e.g., Actimize, SAS, Oracle FCCM) and data tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting at senior management and executive levels.
- Experience in business development, solution design, and commercial delivery of compliance services.
- Proactive thought leader with a demonstrated ability to develop innovative approaches, intellectual property, and industry-leading models.
- Advanced project management skills including budgeting, scoping, and resource planning.
- Demonstrated ability to build and grow teams, mentor junior talent, and foster a high-performance culture.
- Demonstrates flexibility and agility in managing shifting priorities, project scopes, and organizational needs.

Physical Factors and Working Conditions
- This role primarily involves desk-based work in a moderately quiet office environment.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand or move within the office as needed.
- Ability to visually focus on a computer screen for long periods.
- Travel to client’s place or company office per policy.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on occasion during travel, as needed.
